Eric Sage

Eric Sage has been a litigator and trial attorney in South Florida for over thirty years. He joined Wicker Smith’s Fort Lauderdale office as a partner in 2024, after serving as a senior partner of his previous firm for almost twenty years.

Eric is experienced in various subject areas, including premises liability, negligent security, and general liability matters. A large part of his career has been spent on the litigation of catastrophic injury, medical malpractice, and nursing home claims and he has represented physicians and other allied health professionals, hospitals, and nursing homes in potentially high exposure complex litigation cases.

With more than three decades of experience to draw upon, Eric is adept at assessing the value of a case early on and making the appropriate recommendations. He prides himself on his ability to interface with experts across multiple specialties in order to gain a granular understanding of the subtle issues that often decide the defense and trajectory of a case and the potential exposure or defenses available. His experience and nuanced understanding of the medical issues presented in both personal injury and medical negligence cases give him a distinct advantage in negotiations.

Eric believes that the best defense is proper preparation. His clients trust him to walk into mediation with the evidence ready to pursue an appropriate resolution, but if resolution isn’t possible, to be part of the Wicker Smith team that ultimately puts the case to a jury. His record in the courtroom is exemplary.

Prior to his career in litigation defense, Eric was an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County for Janet Reno until she left to become the United States Attorney General. He attended Fordham University in New York and Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law.
