James FosterBiographyJames R. Foster is a partner in Wicker Smith’s Fort Lauderdale office where he currently devotes his practice to automotive/trucking, premises liability, product liability, commercial litigation, and matters specific to public charities, private foundations, and private operating foundations. Since joining Wicker Smith in 2018, he has handled lawsuits in both State and Federal Court, and has secured numerous dismissals, summary judgments, and favorable trial verdicts. He represents a wide variety of clients, including fortune 500 companies, non-profit organizations, and various insurance carriers. Mr. Foster earned his Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law in 2019 and his Bachelor of Science degree from Florida State University in 2015. While in law school, Mr. Foster was very active on both trial and moot court teams, serving as the Chief Justice of the Moot Court Society. In his first year of law school, he placed first out of 112 competitors in the Feinrider Moot Court Competition. He then was selected as the overall Best Advocate in the Hon. E. Earle Zehmer Memorial Mock Trial Competition. Additionally, in his second and third years of law school Mr. Foster competed in the American Bar Association’s NAAC Moot Court Competition where he won the Regional Competition in Boston, Massachusetts, was recognized as a semi-finalist in the National Competition in Washington, D.C., and received various written brief awards ranking fourth overall out of over 150 teams. Mr. Foster previously served on the President’s 64 initiative of Nova Southeastern University. The President’s 64 is an elite body of student leaders comprised of 64 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, hand-selected by the President of the University. Also, during this time, he prepared an article discussing the impact of technology on mental health for the American College of Legal Medicine (ACLM) Hirsch Writing Competition, which placed second overall and was selected for publication by the ACLM.
