Defense Verdict: Glades County, Florida (Trucking Negligence)
Sarasota partners Doug Lumpkin and Jerry Armbruster recently obtained a defense verdict in a trucking negligence case in Glades County, Florida.
We represented the driver in this case, in which Plaintiff alleged that our client negligently operated his semi-truck when the two vehicles collided after Plaintiff attempted to pass while our client was making a left hand turn. Plaintiff alleged multiple injuries as a result of the accident, including a TBI and lumbar disc herniation for which future surgery would be needed. They claimed medical bills totaling $64,453, as well as lost wages.
The defense presented evidence that showed that our client was not negligent in operating his vehicle, and further argued that Plaintiff did not incur any permanent injuries or any past or future loss of earning capacity as a result of the accident.
Trial lasted nine days, with Plaintiff asking for $2.25 million in closing arguments. After a thirty-five minute deliberation, the jury returned a complete defense verdict.
This case was tried just four days after Hurricane Milton tore through Sarasota. Congratulations Doug, Jerry, and team on this great result.
